Subrina Hossain is the Chief Executive of NTV Europe and is one of the very few successful TV
executives
within the media industry.
NTV is the leading Bangladeshi TV channel for Non resident Bangladeshis around the globe. NTV
Europe, a
subsidiary of NTV has been a phenomenal success in the UK and across Europe due primarily to
Subrina’s
pragmatic leadership.
Her bold and charismatic leadership has contributed significantly towards the financial and
strategic
interest and success of NTV Europe.
Subrina completed her undergrad from London Metropolitan University with a law degree. It was here
that
her leadership attributes began to emerge, Subrina was elected the star of the law course
representing
students’ needs, concerns and expectations to the Students’ Union and University officials.
After completing her MBA she has continued to study for her DBA (Digital Marketing) at Anglia
Ruskin
University.
A true philanthropist and dedicated business woman. Subrina has used her position and business
acumen
to raise the profile of the channel and has shown true commitment to serving the public.
Subrina has been awarded The Freeman-ship, The Freedom of the City of London on 24th September 2019
for
her outstanding contribution to the British society. She is one of the few British-Bangladeshi that
have
received this prestigious award.
Subrina introduced programs at NTV Europe to accommodate Metropoliton Police and NHS to share their
messages and created platforms for them to promote their services. To her credit she has completed
over
4 thousand hours of volunteering for the Royal Voluntary Service during the current pandemic.
Supporting the government’s vaccine initiative, Subrina’s involvement has had a direct impact on the
uptake of the vaccine amongst the British Bangladeshi Community, combating fears and misconceptions
that
previously prevented or hindered the uptake of the vaccine
Her efforts to highlight issues and raise awareness on health and safety, along with her many
campaigns
to tackle the rising issues of violent crime, gangs and knife crime have been applauded by the Met
and
many community organisations.
She is a recognised figure within the British community, known as a tenacious, resilient individual
who
is willing to serve the community.
Subrina an executive and non-executive director to a number of companies was the first female to be
elected on the Board of Directors of the British Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce. Where she
championed
the interests of the British-Bangladeshi businesses and the community and continues to work on the
issue
of gender equality and women empowerment.
Serving as the Vice President for British Bangladeshi Chambers of Women Entrepreneurs, an
organization
that profiles and mentors successful business women within British-Bangladeshi society she has spent
much time encouraging and mentoring women who are interested on becoming directors or company board
members and believes in the ethos of equality, diversity and inclusion.
With her relentless efforts over the years to successfully raise the Bengali profile and it’s
contribution to the mainstream, she is regularly recognised and highlighted by many mainstream Asian
publications and is widely regarded as a luminary by the Asian media and business community.
Subrina successfully patronised an event called “Business Friends of NTV” that recognises business
leaders, their innovation and input for the benefit of the British society.
She is a Level 1 user at the UKBA Sponsor Management System and the Authorising Officer,
responsible
for all day to day management of the SMS.
Britain’s curry industry subsidises heavily towards the local and national economy. However, due to
unfavourable situation this industry has been anguished heavily. Subrina introduced a new program
named
“Meet the Guvnor” through NTV to reach out to the community involved with this industry across the
nation to understand their concerns and to address them.
Tackling and highlighting the issue of chefs on the shortage occupation list. She introduced a
competition called “Cooking Queen” through NTV that encouraged women from different backgrounds to
participate in nationwide competitions which not only enhanced their confidence but also helped to
create a positive impression about the role, allowing them the opportunity to move on and in some
cases
start a new career.
Subrina has been a great supporter of sports too. She understands that sports can play a pivotal
role in
our well-being and community cohesion. She has successfully organised “NTV Community Cricket Cup”
for
last 5 years to encourage young people to get more involved with sports for their physical and
mental
well-being. In response to the government’s calls to businesses to create opportunities for local
people, Subrina has set up a social enterprise keeping community interest in heart.
Sabrina is a qualified training provider and is delivering relevant training programs for local
unemployed people, helping hundreds to improve their chances of securing apprenticeships, training
and
employment.
Subrina has introduced an Apprenticeship scheme for 13 to 19 years olds helping them gain the
necessary
knowledge from their early age to be successful in their future careers.
Subrina spends her spare time teaching as a cover teacher to give something back to the education
sector.
Recently, during the current pandemic, Subrina has helped vulnerable ethnic minorities financially
through fundraising.
Subrina’s professional and personal projects have been widely regarded by the experts as she has
successfully maximised participation and retention for all the organisations she has been actively
associated with. She has prioritised the demands of the community more often than many others. Her
passion and projects are based upon decency, respect and responsibility.
